Cell Phone Plan for APAC International Roaming

Post by thedreamer » Mon, 02 Apr 2012 1:02 pm

I have recently taken a role in Singapore that will have me travelling in APAC mainly to Australia, India, Phillipines, Indonedia, Malaysia, HK , Thailand and China.

Any recommendations on what data/voice plan i should take that is reasonable for my kind of work. I will be using an iPhone.

Thanks

Singtel is my personal recommendation for anyone inside Singapore that values data connectivity.

They have a few international roaming plans that offer relatively affordable data in various countries, most of which are on that list. I believe it is called "Bridge DataRoam". And relatively affordable is again relative. It is something like $20 a day for data, as opposed to $20 per megabyte. :)

Bridge DataRoam is quite good in my experience. There are the 'all you can eat in 1/3/5 days' packages that zzm referred to, or you can sign up for a monthly package that gives you a (monthly) total amount of data, regardless of which of their member carriers you connect to during that time. I'm on the Bridge DataRoam 40+5 plan, which generally covers me for all my trips over the course of a month, given that I normally only read emails in text format when I'm out of Singapore and not connected to WiFi.
