Housing- What would you do?

Post by VA2HK2SG » Thu, 29 Mar 2012 1:14 pm

We are US Expats moving from Hong Kong and comfortable with city living and commute time isn't really an issue. We are open minded to live anywhere, but would like to have some stores near by for regular household needs.

Based on the vast knowledge on this board and knowing what you know now vs. when you made your housing decision when you first moved here what areas/complexes would you live in or not live in.

Our Vitals:
2 Kids
3 Bedroom with facilities needed
Budget 5000-5500
Open to most any location

Thanks for the help.

Yeah commute time may not be an issue, and constantly changing bus/MRT in a single commute will kill you (with all the unnecessary walking in-between of course).

To start, where will you/wife be working and where do you intend to send your kids for school?

The best housing will be the one where workplace and kids' school is within reasonable commute :)

US Expat from HK to SG?

Post by cw1483 » Wed, 25 Apr 2012 2:41 pm

I can't help but noticed your userid noted VA, HK, SG. Our family is planning a relocation from HK to SG as well (Sept), our original home in Vienna, VA. Wondering if you are in the same boat?

cw1483 - Wow very small world, I actually grew up in Vienna(Oakton).
We were living in Richmond, VA before we moved to Hong Kong. We have now been in Singapore about 1 month.

I cant PM you, so please email me at my personal address if you have any questions about the move from HK and Singapore.

Take Care
Jason

VA2HK2SG,

Not a real good idea to use you email address in the open forum. It's prime for harvesting by email spambots. Once you have 5 proper posts (not one-liner throw-aways as we tend to delete them) your PM facility will be fully activated. You can receive PMs but you cannot send until you have the 5 posts. This is to prevent PM spammers.
