Taking artwork to Singapore

Post by clong » Sun, 25 Mar 2012 7:29 am

Hi - I heard it wasn't a good idea to take artwork (framed behind glass) to Singapore due to the humidity? Is that others' experience?

I can see the logic in that argument. Various pictures of mine got mold spots in Singapore.

I'd only take stuff that looks good but is of little value!

Which is why we have the aircon on most of the time even when on holiday. Not to mention shipping the stuff the insurance cost are usually more that the actual shipping cost!

Put those little stick-on silicon things on the back of the art work to allow air to flow behind, helps a tons. Also, never trust an air/con unit not to leak all over your artwork or furniture, sometimes in copious amounts.

The Martha Stewart of Singapore is spot on . . .

We left most of our paintings in Oz, coming from a drizabone place to a wetazcanbe place is detrimental to these things. I made the mistake with my antique books . . . :(
