Uhhhh... that would be a large 'no'. Way back in history I was. Then I became a Republican precinct chair. I ran my precinct convention and attended the state convention. When I began to hear such niceties as "gay marriage is the cause of so many single mothers" I knew it was time to move on.
I'll never vote for a Republican again as long as I live.

Explains Mitt Romney's flip-floppiness. And also why Republicans support him now but don't know why (and the tepid endorsements, most probably).
Not so safe for people who don't get American politics or quantum physics, sensitive Romney supporters, or anti-science types (e.g. Rick Santorum).

The skills required to win elections and the skills required to govern are not the same. They are good enough at winning elections that many people don't care how poorly they govern.
