Offshore Oil & Gas

Post by tee kong kia » Tue, 20 Mar 2012 10:58 am

I am giving a rough overview of the industry, since joining last year did a bit of research and a lot of jack up rigs,FPSO conversions are done in local shipyards.I work in a general contracting company and our client is a super oil major so you can imagine the crazy amounts of money they are paying.Expats engineers from mainly UK are being paid around 600 to 1000 GBP per day depending on experience.Local technicians S$300 to S$600 per day, that is a lot of money for a home grown guy.The place where I work out of 10 staff,7 are foreign Brits, Pinoys, Indians, Chinese, Korean,Japanese.Name it we have it,like a international buffet.

One has to wonder why somebody would register in a forum to post an industry synopsis without having been asked for information. Almost smells like a prelude to a recruiters request for personnel doesn't it......
