Office @ Raffles City Tower....where to rent a flat?

Post by moving2singapore » Sun, 18 Mar 2012 10:28 am

Hi there..I will be moving to Singapore in May'12, office is at Raffles City Tower, North Bridge. I am single and am looking for a 1/2 bedroom flat:

1. Close to MRT; I will be using public transport only
2. Close to a market complex
3. Not more than 30 mins travel to office

Please suggest which areas should I focus on and monthly rentals I should expect in those areas?

Thanks in advance.

Your location criteria matches half of Singapore. Your price criteria is also extremely wide. Rent for a 1 or 2 bedroom can go anywhere from $1.8k-10k within 30 minutes of your office. Narrow it down a bit.

Use www.gothere.sg, maps.google.com, or http://www.smrt.com.sg/trains/train_timings.asp to estimate the time between your office and various locations.

Yes, as zzm states, it all depends on your willingness to spend and what facilities you want for the money. You can get a very nice 2/3 bed room in east coast for around 3.5K a month within 30 mins of work and with a half decent pool/gym/facilities combo. If you want to live next to your work then you can spend a whole lot more!

Narrow your requirements down a bit and we may be able to assist, but remember, Singapore is well connected by public transport and RCT is bang on the Green and Red MRT lines, so this opens up most of everything!

Since you mentioned that you want a 1/2 bedroom flat, that will pretty much strike HDBs off the list because those types are reserved and not for rental to foreigners. Your option is pretty much on private condominiums unless you wanna share with flatmates in a 3/4 bedroom HDB.

You can rent 2-bedroom (3 room) HDBs pretty easily. They're cheaper than a lot of 1 Bedroom condos :)

I suspect he just wanted 'the answer', rather than to start a discussion
