Powertools in Singapore

Post by KriB » Fri, 16 Mar 2012 4:53 pm

Hi!
The battery for my Black & Decker HP12 died on me and I am looking to buy a new one. Anyone know where they sell this kind of stuff here?

I believe Selffix are a B&D dealer, so I'd suggest a Google search for them.

Another option, if you can't get the actual part here, might be to shop around Sim Lim Tower (opposite Sim Lim Square) as there are a number of specialist battery suppliers there; they might be able to replace the cell(s) in your current battery pack.

3rd option - search on eBay as this kind of thing is often available from suppliers in HK, etc.
Be careful what you wish for

Actually when it comes to popular brands it is not that simple at all as everybody here advertises they carry the brand and when you arrive at the spot they have nothing but few pieces from 1000 entry catalog. Fortunately it looks like not the case for B&D :)

Total nightmare getting a replacement batteries for a b&d drill in singapore they never hve stock, gave up looking and bought a makita, though while in malaysia i stumbled across the main agent for black and decker and they had a few spare. I am sure they do it on purpose so you end up buying a new drill.

Hence I'd do a search for the distributor, check the part is imported, who it is distributed to, whether it can be bought directly (I've done this with Western Digitial, we recently saw Dyson sell parts directly too) or if necessary go to a retailer and be in an informed position.

It just reminded me when we wanted to buy some particular brand of baby shoes and after identifying the retailers via the manufacturer's webpage ended up with nothing. But yeah, shoes are a bit different thing.
