+1! This is a definite, McD's is not a good career move on anyone's CV, you probably know that!

Good Luck, everyone makes mistakes, it's how we deal with them after that counts :)
Unless it's written as "local facility operations management of an internationally distributed immediate-service eating establishment" and hoping the reviewer doesn't ask for the specific name and that they buy the bull.
Me will buy that crap! +1

You need to download and install the "human resources job euphemizer app"!

Besides this, why is he vacationing in Vietnam if money is so tight? :???:
I was going to ponder why a person earns $2k, spends $1.5k on rent, then they're sitting on the beach in VN?

I reckon the OP doesn't have to work. That would explain a couple of oddities in this scenario...

Possible, but 1%ers don't take jobs at McDonalds. Even to keep visas. :P

Someone who didn't have to work (even of 'modest' means) would keep his residence in the US, apply for a K1 Visa (6-12 months, usually closer to 6), and then take 3-6 months vacationing in SE Asia with the fiance. Then head to Bangkok when USCIS approves an interview.

Something doesn't add up, and I suspect the OP will never be back to discuss any further. He's up there on my list of posters I wish would come back to 'discuss' more. Right after the NYC mom who couldn't make ends meet on $30k a month.

I came to Singapore bc my fiance is from Thailand and we are still waiting for the visa paperwork to be processed so she can come to the US. Anyways, after a month of fruitless job hunting... I decided to apply for a managerial position at Mcdonald's. Well, I got offered assitant manager position for the pultry salary of $2000 SGD/month. I am supposed to work 44 hours per week but generally end up actually working 55 hours. I'm renting a room for $1500/ month and after travel and food ...I usually dip into $500 of my savings. Should I just quit and continue my job hunt? Everybody that lives in the flat is about the same age as me but generally making well over $3000 SGD per month. I'm Caucasian and speak Spanish and English fluently and know basic Mandarin.
This really sucks man. However in all honesty, that is what a local entry level guy will be making.

Make sure you send tailored cover letters if sending directly to companies, 5 CVs a day will not necessarily do it quickly.

Man, why did you take a job flipping burgers? Bad move in my opinion. Hope you can fix it real soon!
