Groupon goondu promo - california fitness

Post by madaboutplastic » Tue, 13 Mar 2012 5:40 pm

Groupon has a promotion for california fitness currently.

One month unlimited exercise for cheap fee. HOWEVER, no place on the silly site says that this groupon is not for ex members or people who had gone for any of the trials.

Was good that I had called to check first. Not sure if its california fitness order to hide this pre-requisite or groupon simply dont care.

Imagine the groupon purchased would have been named invalid because of this deliberate omission.

Buyers beware !

Friend called today. He is not an ex member or had gone for any california fitness trial lesson before.

the groupon offer was $30+.

Friend "how much is your 12mth membership?"

CF sales "it is $79++ before gst. however, if u take up the groupon offer and sign up thereafter, it is $89++"

Friend "how can it be possible increase in monthly membership just because i went for the discounted one month trial? its not as though im not paying for it"

CF sales "err..err... but you know.. fitness is a lifelong commitment.. if you sign up longer then will be cheaper..."

Hang up.

California fitness are a bunch of cowboys. They are complete morons and I wouldn't send my cats there.

They are all about hidden clauses and lock-in periods, and they'll take payments without notice and make you jump through hoops to cancel any memberships.

And they aren't even a good gym - it's full of sales people pretending to be personal trainers. A horrible collection of people

So going to Cali fitness is like going to California itself. It's also a collection of fruits, nuts & flakes! :P

just pay your membership up front and they cant over charge or not cancel your membership when you want to leave. you get a better averaged out monthly fee and everything is fine.

I just signed an 18m up front platinum and use either raffles or novena everyday. yes there are a few people there around the busy times but show me a gym that doesnt. I havent been attempted to be upsold PT once.

i think its good value for quality equipment in convenient locations.

you always end up with a dud deal with groupon type sites. id never use em.
