FAO Moderators - Sub forum specifically for schools

Post by snowqueen » Sun, 11 Mar 2012 10:08 pm

Hi

I was wondering if it would be easier for people specifically looking for information on schools to have their own sub forum. It seems every few days there's a new thread on people deciding between this school and that school. CIS or UWC, Tangling or Stamford, Chatsworth or ...... OK you get my point.

OK, I know you are going to say there is already one 'Education & Enrichment Courses for Children' but people don't put their school dilemma questions in there, they always get put in the 'general' areas.

Just a thought.

If they can't figure it out now, giving them more choices just makes our job harder as they will then post into multiple forums "just in case" which means we end up having to look for and deleting the spammed posts.

Having a choice between "general" and "education" any person without a masters degree should be able to figure out where it belongs.

I have to agree with SMS, the category we have now is rather specific under 'Education and Enrichment Courses..'. Any narrowing of the education section and we'll have more multiple posts in the various schools sub-forums, is something we want to avoid. However, a good subject title will yield better responses than one that does not have a proper title. :)

Some people even have troubles to post school related questions within this subforum and there is the word "school" in its name so I can only second sms and joop.

Yeah, I moved one yesterday from the 'Relocating, Moving to Singapore' forum to the Education sub-forum.

sub forum for schools

Post by nickmich21 » Thu, 22 Mar 2012 7:55 pm

I totally agree with SnowQueen. A sub forum for schools would be useful. As a new user to your website I have to say I didn't use the education courses subforum to research schools as I would never have associated the word "courses" with schools. To me a course suggests a specialist subject course that you may have your child do. The word "school" would have made it so much clearer.

But it doesn't seem to be titled 'Education courses', rather it is titled 'Education & Enrichment courses for children'.

I think the point being made is that if it is not already clear that schools fall under the topic of Education then there is little point trying to make it even clearer.

Anyway, moot point, judging by the way the wind is blowing no change looks likely to happen anytime soon.

sorry JR8, did mean to say education and enrichment courses for children but couldn't remember what it was actually called when writing my reply.
