I'm interested to move in Singapore, but I have no idea on the salary I should ask. How much a software engineer can expect here ?
How much would it cost to live comfortably here ? I would work on Orchard, so I want to live close by to be able to go to work walking, or a few MRT stations. What's the average price for fully furnished relatively high end
condos for a single person ?
Thanks a lot for you hindsights !

You're gonna get shouted at for not searching the forums
Salary seems to depend a lot on years of experience, and in a lot of cases seems to be based on an increase from your last salary. I'm currently looking too (not software development though) - just have a look on the main job sites for rough ideas.
Check . for typical
condo costs.

I'm not in this field so best if I let someone else who are more familiar to give the figure.

Orchard is an area we would call a prime area. And staying in "relatively high end" there may command ridiculously high rent as well - so ridiculous that even I couldn't be bothered to find out (Yup, you can Google property websites here for some idea of how ridiculous the rates are). Best if you stay at Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh instead (5, 6 and 3 MRT stations away respectively).
Thanks a lot for you hindsights !
Another thing to note, how would you define comfortable? It all depends where you come from, what you're used to and what are your expectations. Give more info and better still, use the search function up there on your top right :points diagonally to the right: and you will have better picture from related discussions in this forum.

It varies significantly on numerous factors, but you can "expect" to make a lot less than you'll need to live the lifestyle you want judging by "fully furnished high end
condo" near Orchard Rd. Most software engineers are imported from India, and they work for ~$3k a month on average. Maybe up to double that if a US MNC. Triple that if you have a super-star resume/CV.

Hi,
zzm9980 speaks the truth
In the company i work for, a junior can expect to earn between 2 and 3k, seniors (real senior which means at least 5-7 years experience in the area that we are looking for) earn up to 5k, 5.5-6k if they have a proven track record of working on something spectacular. lead developers might get around 7k if they have something impressive on their resume and can back it up during the interviews.
"standard" software developers are common around here. I get at least 30-50 CVs for every open position in my team.
So unless you have something absolutely astonishing on your resume, I fear that you might need to adjust your expectations regarding your salary and accomodation.
