Yes, the older pictures of Raffles City remind me of some I've seen of London around the same time and even London nowadays too!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing, SMS!

Edit: that wasn't meant to be ironic (didn't see the above two posts), but a genuine vote of thanks.

His link is a photography blog, so he's probably quite interested on this occasion!

He's also local.

Oh yeah. I'm immortalized in one of those photos as well. ;-) Where in the world is Wally?

Actually I thought I was in this one:

But I think that they have the wrong year. I arrived in Singapore in June of 82 and went to the National Day celebration at the Padang and I took a number of pictures, this being one of them. I think the above photo might be from '81 or 83. as the background behind the bleachers were different.

Thanks SMS - these are a real treat. Hard to believe how unrecognisable Singapore is today from 60 years ago.

Here is an old thread we had a lot of fun with a few years ago (2005-2006). There are several old photos on there that I took a couple of years ago (82-84). We had a good time with this thread. In fact, might be nice to bump it up and add to it. Any takers?

Where is this?
