Travelling out of Singapore while EP in process

Post by sam24x7 » Mon, 27 Feb 2012 9:20 pm

Need advice on my situation.

I am on the three month EPEC based LTVP valid till March 30. I spent Jan and Feb applying for jobs like crazy and living on a very tight budget and all I managed was a single interview with a big MNC which went over five rounds but ending in disappointment. I had booked my return flight on the leap day to begin with; as I had initially planned for two months as my search time.

Now, last week out of nowhere I got an interview call with another company(non-MNC), gave the interview and got an offer yesterday and EP Q pass in process today.

Now assuming the EP process will take at least about a week, I am thinking to catch that return flight, spend a week(or more) with friends and family back home before(and if) I start, especially since only 10 days of vacation offered on the job.

- Would travelling out of Singapore and back, with EP in process and a month of LTVP validity left, be a wise decision?
- Can I come back on a one way ticket, if EP approved, or do I have to buy a return/onward ticket?

I am an Indian non-IT engineer with a US degree.

Thanks

If the EP is approved, it will include an entry visa. This will allow you to enter with a one-way ticket.

You do have 30 days on your LTVP left, so not a major issue; I expect EPEC allows multiple re-entry?

I wouldn't worry - go and have a break and wait for the news on your EP. Either way, if it doesn't get approval you'll have to leave anyway in a months time.

The LTVP issued under the EPEC does yes.

Agreed
One way ticket is fine.
