So...This NS Thing....

I'm a Singapore born Canadian citizen that left Singapore at the age of eight. I completed my education in Canada, renounced my Singapore citizenship at the age of 21, and now, 30 years old and looking to take on new challenges, am considering working in Singapore.

Should I be hired there I understand that the company would make the necessary arrangements for my visa. What I've always wondered is whether or not I would be required to complete National Service if I want to work in the tiny island.

Anyone?

Much love.

If you have renounced your SG citizenship, you DO NOT have to do NS as it has no concern for you as you are now a Canadian. PERIOD

But to gain employment here may affect your WORK PASS as MOM and ICA know that you are an ex-Singaporean unless you skills and expertise is of great value to SG that they will bent backwards to allow you to gain work here

Actually, I think that for those who have leave at a very young age (e.g., before the age of 11) I don't think there will be any impact at all if all the protocol was done successfully. I think, for EP purposes that you would stand a good a chance as any other.

Subsequently gaining PR, however, might be a horse of a different color.
