Is a 6 month lease possible??

Post by NZJen » Thu, 23 Feb 2012 12:22 am

We have just moved to Singapore & are looking to rent an apartment. There is a chance we may have to move abroad again within 12 months, so I'm not keen to sign a 1 or 2 year lease just in case!
Is it possible to find an apartment (2 bed, semi furnished) on a 6 month lease or will I have problems finding a landlord or agent who might be agreeable??
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

It's not going to be easy and will probably come at a stiff premium as well.

My friends recently (well October) signed a six month lease for a 1 bed furnished apartment, the condo is new and pretty much empty hence them getting a 6 month lease fairly easily, their budget was in the 3 - 3.5k range and I dont think they went above it.

The condo is Parc Sophia on Adis Road, dont know who the agent was but they found him on the internet.

If your thinking of serviced accommodation, we stayed at One North thru LMB housing for a month when we first moved to Singapore, a nice 2 bed was around 5k per month and was (at the time anyway) the most economical while still being a nice apartment.

I know a friend of mine who is looking to rent his fully furnished penthouse apartment out on a short term lease and no need to involve an agent! He's literally flown out to to HK this morning to work. Unfortunately forum rules probably means I can't post much else.
