Did anyone else know that he came to Singapore last year on 10 separate occasions for alleged medical treatment as reported in The Times ? If true, what does everyone think about this. Would the Government have needed to sanction this ?

I don't remember the Singapore Govt having any quarrel with Zimbabwe .. and Air Zimbabwe used to have scheduled flights to Singapore as well .. until they ran out of 'equipment' and switched to KL
What gives ?

I imagine he'd have diplomatic immunity right?
He's a scumbag, that's for sure, of the highest order, but I am not sure if sanctioning needs to be done for him entering for medical treatment.

...I remember a House MD episode where Dr. Chase let an African dictator die and Dr. Foreman covered up for him during the investigation how and why the dictator died...
They got away with it.

The government needs to sanction everyone who enters the country. He has a lot of money, and I'm sure his care isn't cheap, so sure, why should they care?

I'm just surprised this country's Government is happy to allow him free access considering how he is barred from travelling to the EU and US, there are a host of UN sanctions against his government and many of his assets are frozen overseas.

Why should it surprise you. All the sanctions on Myanmar all these years, so I've been told, Singapore has been making a mint supplying military arms & computer technology to them. Politico-doublespeak.......

No sure what the issue is - Mugabe also travels a lot to HK and owns some pretty pricey
property there. His daughter also attends school there. I don't think east asian governments are really bothered by what the west thinks (unless there is a benefit for them). On the other hand it means that they can do the business they want without the nosy inteference of the west and also on the qt so as to avoid the bunny-huggers and other people who'd hold them up from their goals.
