Serangoon/Woodleigh Areas??

Post by lauramay » Fri, 10 Feb 2012 8:39 am

Hello! My children and I will be moving to Singpore in June to join my husband who is moving this week (for his work.) I've searched the boards for info, but have a few specific questions.

One of the schools I'm considering is SAIS for my kinder and pre-kinder children. The new campus will be located near the Woodleigh MRT. I was hoping to find a condo either within walking distance of the school or in a condo within walking distance of the Serangoon MRT. I have not been able to find much information on those areas. Will I have easy access to shopping, cafes, etc.? Some of the places I've viewed online are the Blossoms@Woodleigh, or Sunglade. Any thoughts? Other condos?

I'm hesitant to have my children ride the school bus due to their young age. I'm thinking that by living very close to the school I can cut down on commute time. But, that being said, I don't want to miss out on living in areas that might offer more in terms of parks, shops, cafes, friends, etc.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Everything there is just a train ride of a few minutes away, a little bit longer if you wish to travel a bit further from suburban shopping areas.

There's a whole former Muslim cemetery just across the road from SAIS that serves well as a park for now. :) Other than that, Singapore is really quite starved of parkland really.

As for cafes, if I understand your understanding of the term correctly, you'd probably only find them in good concentration in traditional expat areas.

BTW, SAIS is right next to Woodleigh station, that's the one you should be looking at in terms of having your children walk to school. It's quite a walk from Serangoon station.

Hi, we have been in Singapore for the last weekend trying to sort out a similar issue, and have viewed a lot of places. We did not like Blossoms, as it is surrounded by construction, and with the school, many of the condo's look right into the car park, and we all know the honks of cars etc at schools.

We actually found Kovan area was nice, and also many around patong pasir that are great. Very close and easy. Worth looking at D13 and D20, we were happy with these. Hope it helps.

But not proud enough to keep it for yourself, eh? Or you've seen the writing on the wall and know to dump it now...

edit: For clarity to future viewers, the poster I replied to was previously advertising a unit he was trying to flip pre-TOP. The moderators removed the ad.

Seems you have not done your homework. It is still in construction how to see writings on wall? I see, perhaps there are ppl trying to vandalise pte pty. Proud to be Singaporean and proud to share with others. I understand there are many ppl eating sour grapes...
... and proud to be a flipper too by the look of it. If it's such a fantastic unit, why are you selling it? :P
Be careful what you wish for
