Which condo is this may I ask? Even one of most cheapo condos, Melville park in the east is getting rented for 3k++ for a 2 bedder.

Sorry, can't tell you that...... I've not negotiated it yet ;)

Anyway, quite old but the surroundings are nice and the condition is not so bad, just needs some work. We have a relatively good choice for condo units at or less than 3k around here, 2br/1000sqft.

It'll be some shitty place that's being sold for en-bloc and he'll be forced to move out before the lease is finished. I have a bridge for sale as well.

Don't tell that to somebody from Arizona, they may just take you up on it and make a fortune in the process.

If you live out in certain areas such as Hillview or Upper Bukit Timah/Bukit Panjang, it's still possible to get a 2 bed condo for 2600

Figures as much; I guess I'm just hoping for a lot to get a non-HDB rental for under $3.5k in a place I want to live :(

If you want to live in Loyang area, Hillside, Woodlands, Yishun or somewhere else in the back of beyond then there are loads of properties under 3.5K! have a search on . In fact I found 571 across Singapore between $2K and $3.5K with 3 bed or more and over 1200 sqft!

I just did the same search (actually 2-3k) and I'm rather shocked. There are placed I'd consider here. I don't find Woodlands too terrible, but then I do work at YCK Road, so it's not a bad commute :P

I think cause I normally search with a particular area in mind I never noticed the cheap places, there are some nice places there and if you consider saving >$1K a month by taking one, it's a whopping $24K over a 2 year lease! That's well worth it IMO!

That's my thought. I'm either going to buy after this lease, or move to a condo in Ulu Ulu to save a bit on the lease. As long as I can walk to a Starbucks (Woodlands can la! yishun also can) then I'm set.

I'm neither a fool or a slob and your insinuation of one or both is rather insulting. Don't pretend to know everything since you've clearly come out and proved otherwise.

~$3k can get a reasonable quality condo, a fair size, all the facilities, underground parking, security (well......., what passes as security here), close to transport links and maybe just around 30-min from the CBD, Airport and even Malaysia.
