It might be fish paste cooking. There is somsone near us who cooks that (St Michaels Road off Serangoon) and it stinks to heaven.

I don't think there is any cremation going on at 10:30pm. Could be coming from nearby factories. For example, I know that the Kong Guan or Choc factory in Corporation Road gives out some weird smell.

Could also be due to someone cooking ... or durian.
