Seeking doctor recommendation for managing hypertension?

Post by Hidy Ho » Tue, 31 Jan 2012 9:52 am

I'm new to Singapore and trying to figure out the health system here which appears to be quite different from USA.

To make the long story short, I take various medication to manage hypertension (high blood pressure). I need to find a doctor here for refill prescription as well to potentially change the medications to fit my needs.

Anyone know a good doctor?

Also I guess the fees are different by hospital? I'm on EP pass. Some website has different price for citizen, permanent residents and non-residents. I wonder where I fit in as far as pricing goes? (hopefully with PR as non-resident fees seem to be very high!!!).

You can forget PR rates.

As far as HBP meds are concerned, I was on them (2 different at the same time) for over a decade. They managed to keep my BP to around 138/90 - still very high normal.

Four years ago, I went on a diet and lost 25 kg/55 lbs. At the end of the diet, my BP was 110/70 without medication. I've been off the meds for 4 years now and still my BP is around 115/75 (I'm also around 4 kg heavier as well). Food for though....... (I'm 64 for the record).
