Starting an online business on EP

Post by KGS » Thu, 26 Jan 2012 3:05 pm

Hi, I have an EP and would also like to start a small online business. I would like to sell products that I design. Are there any restrictions on EP holders to start a business?

There are restrictions - you cannot start your own business on an EP. Your EP is tied to an employer.

No. An Entrepass is just an EP issued to a fledgling start up company. Upon view, it is exactly identical to the EP document and documentation you hold now.

Besides, the online business you described would have a hard time qualifying for an Entrepass.

One option that might be open to you is to convert to a PEP and then ask MOM for permission to hold a second job. I've searched briefly for the thread here but did not find it. Essentially, you must get permission from your current employer, then petition MOM for the right to work the second job. There is at least one person who posted on this board that has successfully done it.

What about a Sole Proprietorship? Can I apply for that?

No. Not legally.
