Looks like the Straits Wine Company is having another sale.
However, like before, there doesn't seem to be anything on their website.

Full Disclosure: Am not associated with them in any way, other than being on their mailing list and being just a 5 min. walk from one of their stores.
I only buy from them when they do deep discounting like this.

Question of a slightly different nature!
I am actually still in planning of my relocation and frankly I have no clue what to stuff into the container that I will have available. So I figured 'what the hell' and I am considering to stuff it up with wine. As far as I was able to find out, below 54 liter or so I can still pass it as personal use and don't need any samplings or certifications - only to pay for the custom part. If I get some good wine deal locally, it still seems to come out at a much better price than any semi-decent wine in SG.
Anyone see any problem with it? What costs should I expect for the customs/tax per standard bottle?

This should get you going if you have a calculator and know the alcohol content of the wine/liquors you plan on shipping.

This has been discussed before. A risk is it sits in the container on the deck en route, then at port here, stews and turns into vinegar.
I'd be inclined to take the risk with a couple of cases of up to mid-range stuff, but nothing really $pecial.

Found an interesting wine shop / café on Orchard Rd. next to the Orchard Towers 7-Eleven, called "5 oz. Wine Bistro & Shoppe."
Simple but tasty meals that can be accompanied by wine at the same price as buying off the shelf.
Been there twice now.
Interesting selection of wines.
They also have reference reading available.
Seems like a pet project put together by someone that loves wines.

Sounds interesting! ->
http://www.5ozwine.com/ That's more of a holding page, it only has the address and nothing further.
From Google Maps it faces onto Orchard Road, though it looks like the entrance is from inside. It's the unit to the left of 7-11.
There's a sign in the window 'Taste more than 35 wines [from?] $8 a glass'
It's not on Hungrygowhere, but I found some pix here...
https://foursquare.com/v/5-oz-wine-bist ... 9f2/photos It's smarter looking than the address suggests.
Definitely worth a go next time I'm downtown!

For $8 a pop, this will be the wine version of Thirsty (beer place in Liang Court). Definitely must plan a visit there.

I have to go down to Ion within the week. I'll try and drop in at '5Oz' and see how it is... always nice to try something different on the occasional trips downtown.

No, but the waitress was cute.
However, only saw her the second time I went.

Hi Guys, as a newbie to SG, and a keen wine drinker, is there anywhere near Bugis, where I live and work, that regularly has a better than usual selection of reasonably priced wines. Cold Storage I have found, just wondered if there are others, or even better online sellers.
Thanks
