Summary - Plastic Surgery In Thailand/Taiwan/Korea

Post by boii18 » Fri, 20 Jan 2012 12:30 am

Hi all

Its been a long time since I last posted vigorously.

I started this PS odyssey about 4 years ago, and I am glad to say that it is finally turning fruitful. It was not without much confusion, complication and frustration.

I am going to visit Dr Kao in Taiwan for a revision rhinoplasty in March, and I appeal for more information about him. Some forummers have kindly ignored my private messages despite me repeatedly messaging them for information, even one sentence on dr kao's expertise. I know, I may be busy at times, and did not reply PMs but if you message me again and appeal, I will answer. It may not be long, but I would volunteer information

This thread serves to illustrate my PS surgery from Thailand, Taiwan to Korea. And sums up some very valuable tips. If the feedback is good, I will post part (II)

I still remember in 2008 I made a maiden flight to Bangkok to visit Dr Pat. At that time, he was much raved. This is not to say that he is not raved now. To be honest, there are good and bad reviews. Mostly good though. My cousin especially was very happy with the result. Most doctors cannot please all patients, and there may always be surgical risk and uncertainties. Thats not to absolve the doctor of blame of course. I am not aware of the full details of the negative reviews on dr pat and I cannot comment because of this. But my cousin also went to Dr Pat to do breast augmentation, her entire face ( eyes, epi, lateral cantho, revision nose, dimple without any scars ) without complication and ended up looking very beautiful now. She looks like Dawn Yang now, albeit a more Korean-Caucasian mixed blood version. Dr Pat was very kind to do my nose surgery ( primary ). The first surgery improved my looks a lot., When I saw the mirror I cried. Because the alarplasty really narrowed my face. And the increase in nose bridge height meant that my nose was no longer pig-like. He made a really drastic change, that I cried a few days after the surgery ( when cast was removed ). Yes it was swollen, but I looked way better. As the swelling resolved, I started to look better and better. I had always looked older for my age, maybe 20 + when I was just 18. I kept looking worse and worse. Apparently my jaw got larger, my nose got larger and my face went through horrible changes during Puberty. Plastic surgery has resolved all of them, and now I look 16 to 18 with circle lenses ( I am 23 years old now ). Youth is beauty. I hope to prolong my youth so that I can recapture the wasted time in my youth. The time wasted for the moment when I will look good. To get compliments from others, so many compliments, so many second-glances, is really really very heartening. For all the effort i put in. So much uncertainty I had in my mind. So much psychological struggle and uncertainties plaguing me. Through it all, I stayed resilient, did my homework and I have the result today.

And no, I am not going to post my face like last time. Now as my social circle is widening exponentially I cannot afford my face to be leaked out. But I will gladly email you the parts and pieces of my face. ( nose, one eye, etc ).

In Thailand, there is Dr Pat of Tokai Clinic, who is very caring and skillful. He is a ear-nose-throat surgeon and technically he is best with noses and faces, but my cousin and some Americans have had great results. The fact that he converses well with his nurses and the fact that the nurses worked for him for many years is a testament to his skill and aptitude.

Dr Pat did my lip lift, nose surgery, chin implant, and lip reduction. Overall I give him 8/10 . There is scarring but it is not noticeable. This is a good result. There is no perfect doctor and I think dr pat has done his very best and I would recommend him without hesitation. Do note that my cousin did epi with him without any scar at all. Even dr chuang of taiwan scarred my epi area. Dr Pat has also done fillers and botox for my friend and he is thrilled with the result.

Reason for wanting to do revision rhinoplasty : Nose after 4 years starting to look pinched, shiny and more fake. Inevitable with silicone I guess and the fact that I had a very very high implant compared to baseline values. And I also wanted something more permanent. Yes my nose looks a bit fake, but most people cannot tell. I did get a few comments about it being fake , though, this year. In 2010 I did not get such comments. I started getting comments about my nose looking fake in 2011.

I will post Part II about my surgery in Taiwan, Korea as well as a continuation to my surgery in Thailand if you guys want to here more, please reply to this thread if you want to hear more from me (:

Thanks for your post. Did you get i shaped(with ear cartilage) or L shaped silicone?
What is your opinion about the safety and long term results of i shaped silicone? Is it able to cause pinching as well?

And you ended up getting your revision surgery done with Dr Kao, right? Or did you go to Korea?

Do you have a columellar strut, and does your tip feel stiff or hard? Can you move your tip from side to side?

Thanks again

My answers are below (:

Thanks for your post. Did you get i shaped(with ear cartilage) or L shaped silicone?

**** ANSWER ****
I got L-shaped
. Hence my nose tip became more and more pinched. Also there was no cartilage to cushion the tip hence the tip became more and more pinched.

A common technique is to use ear cartilage to do the tip , and an I shaped implant which probably looks more natural in the long-term.

I actually did tip-plasty with dr pat and he sutured my tip so that probably contributed to a more sharp/caucasian look.

**** ANSWER ****

What is your opinion about the safety and long term results of i shaped silicone? Is it able to cause pinching as well?

**** ANSWER ****
Silicone has a complication rate of ~5%. The problem is that ear cartilage may resorb. I am not sure about the pinching effect of I shaped implant as I have never gotten that.

**** ANSWER ****

And you ended up getting your revision surgery done with Dr Kao, right? Or did you go to Korea?

**** ANSWER ****
I am intending to go to dr kao in march 2012. I hope I will be good!
**** ANSWER ****

Do you have a columellar strut, and does your tip feel stiff or hard? Can you move your tip from side to side?

**** ANSWER ****
The columella strut actually causes the tip to lose its mobility. I did 2 nose jobs with dr pat. First, was what I asked for - feminine and young, but after some time I realised that I did not like that style of nose. It had a columella strut to lift my tip - my tip was stiff. Second nose job - columella strut removed, L shape inserted thru' closed rhino- more satisfied! Tip is more mobile.

Hi boi,
I also had nose implant (L-silicone 3mm) with ear cartilage. Am planning to remove it after 6 months. But I really do like the effect, so reluctant to remove it. After considering the long-term aspect of silicone in the nose, it scares me. Should I wait for the capsule to form fully first before removal so as to retain most of the height of the nose (of course not all)?
silicone 2-3mm of height shouldn't affect the height of my nose after removal right?

Boii,

Does Dr Kao use anything else besides rib? I am afraid of the invasiveness of rib cartilage....

I took mine out after 6 weeks because i panicked. Now I am more prepared so I will be gong to have an implant put in again because the bridge now is lower....
