I agree with you, Aster. Superstition causes far more problems than it solves - the inconvenience taken to avoid something is often far more time and mind consuming.....aster wrote:I find number-related superstitions to be a bit silly. But if you think about it, a lot of people will actually believe in it simply due to some random occurrence.
Take Friday 13th for example, same day as any other, there will be a similar number of accidents and bad things (medical, losing streak at casino, etc.) as any other day, but if something like that happens to someone on this day then they might start believing that it was all because of this special day...

I have no qualms about flying on Friday 13, in fact for some odd reason it's been a popular date on my travel itinerary.
As for local customs, what is special about the precise time 10:08 (am)? There are supposed to be some celebrations outside the Meritus Marina Mandarin hotel at precisely this time on Monday.

Yet more proof that there's nothing wrong with Friday, the 13th, of even both combined.BillyB wrote:I was born on Friday 13th!!aster wrote:I have no qualms about flying on Friday 13, in fact for some odd reason it's been a popular date on my travel itinerary.

I was badly burned in a offshore oil rig explosion on a Friday the 13th about 35 years ago. Still don't worry about it but my wife is superstitious about it. She always tells me not to do anything dangerous on that day.

It will be an auspicious time, as determined by a Feng Shui Master.aster wrote:

Bear in mind that they don't get paid, but expect a red packet...as such, he can usually find a reason to make any time auspicious. Usually by sticking an 8 on the end of whatever time is convenient. IMHE.
