Playing pool

Post by buyan » Wed, 18 Jan 2012 9:21 pm

In other countries we have lived, my wife and I really enjoy two or three hours playing pool at local pubs wherever we are. Have looked for pubs with pool tables here but the ones we have seen are either very small and many seem to have a seedy side to them - not the place we both want to spend time. Anyone know any pubs with nice atmosphere and pool table to wile away a Saturday or Sunday afternoon?

There is a small bar on Clarke Quay that isn't seedy, it's a nice ish bar, but one table only and very small, not sure about anywhere else.

I know what you mean about seedy ones, there are a few of those.

I'm always on the lookout for pool tables, but I actually like the seedy places. Those glitzy clean pool halls and bars usually don't sell beer and it's hard to find a game.

So I guess I'm on the lookout for a good challenge board more than a good table.

Thanks all, will check them out. Not after the pool hall kind, for the reasons you mentioned - just an average bar without the fluff hanging around!

Sara's in Holland V used to rock, great crowd, lots of players, always a game to be found. The few times I've been to her place on Thompson Rd it's been dead. No one playing pool which means me not playing either.
