Cheap Beer for CNY

How come it takes the CNY for beer to become 'reasonable' out here. $39 for a slab of Tiger at Giant this weekend. Shipped in 4 at that price.

Is it cause it's the only time that these markets can buy massive bulk from the suppliers and sell it on cheaper than usual?

At $39 a crate, I think I'll pop down too! normally pay that for 2 6's!

There's one thing to be said for Germany, you can get a 12-pack (half litres) of decent beer for S$7.

Apart from that I don't rate it much though
