Cancelling an IPA and applying for a new one

Post by NEC » Wed, 11 Jan 2012 12:34 pm

Hi all,

I have an urgent query. I got an offer from company A and they applied for an IPA which was approved in 2 days. Immediately thereafter, i got an offer from company B (which is a much bigger MNC and very well known). After long deliberation, i decided to accept the offer from company B.

Company A has cancelled the existing IPA and a new EP has been applied for. My biggest concern is since Im reapplying, could there be any negative repercussions. It’s been almost a week and going out of my mind with worry. Has anyone here been in this position before??Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks!!!!

The biggest repercussion will be the fact that the new employer knows that you will jump ship at the drop of a hat. So, when the economy tanks, guess who will be the first to go......

As far as MOM is concerned, as long as both you and the new employer qualify and can support the hiring of a foreigner, they could care less. They feel, if you want to cut you own throat, go ahead. :-|

Hi SMS, thanks for the reply....appreciate it... well i have been with my previous company for more than 5 years.... so im HOPING tat this shudn't be an issue...

I was of course much more worried abt MOM... I know that no one can give a definite timeline in terms of how long it takes for the EP to be approved... However, when u cancel and reapply does it take more time than when you apply the first time... have u personally come across or handled similar cases..

Interestingly, have you gotten IPA from company B already, prior to the cancellation of IPA from company A?

He has applied for an EP through company B and waiting for the outcome. So his EP through Company B is still in progress. So, he has not got any IPA through Company B from MOM

Thanks for clarifying. Meaning OP hasn't got hold of IPA for company B before cancelling the one from company A. Double whammy (in reference to SMS remarks).

All I can say is, good luck NEC. At this point of time, no one will know what will happen, although I have to agree with SMS's remarks on this.
