LTSVP approved in pricipal - can be extended?

Post by roryn » Tue, 10 Jan 2012 1:08 am

Hi,

I'm an SPR based in Singapore, and my spouse works overseas. He has been travelling to Singapore every 3-4 months on the one-off multiple entry visa which I take for him.

He intends to move to Singapore by end February. We applied for his LTSVP in December when he was visiting me for a month using the disembarkation card details for that entry. However he had to return to his overseas office last week for an urgent matter, before his LTSVP was approved.

We received notification of the in principal approval for a 1-year LTSVP today, and we are supposed to pay up by end January (2 weeks from now). The link also had a list of documents (marriage cert, educational certs etc) which I assume we have to submit to ICA when he goes in person to apply for the pass / card. However

he is not in Singapore now, and can only return in February.

Can we proceed to pay up the fees, but submit the rest of the documents and complete outstanding formalities once he returns in February?

I tried calling ICA today but the helpline was not of much use. If anyone has been in a similar situation (LTSVP approved while you were away from Singapore), your advise would be much appreciated!

Yes since it needs Finger Printing the formalities cannot be completed without the Pass applicant.

Your best bet is to physically go to ICA and speak to them in person. It seems logical to grant an extension - as this is just a visit pass and not for PR.
