PEP Urgent Question

Post by addy456 » Wed, 04 Jan 2012 11:30 pm

I've been reading through the forum, really thanks for then contributors over here.

I just got my PEP arround 3 months ago, currently unemployed, and am planning to be hired as Director for a PTE LTD incorporated by my partner, who is Singaporean.

In effect, I would be the only one actively working to take the company off the ground, my partner already has a job.My partner is willing to pay me monthly salary as well.

The company will be a frame for IT Solutions and will start off with only me as employee, and if things go well, expend as work comes in.

There will be no office, most of the work i do online or at the clients location (in SG, no work overseas).

My quesiton is that

1) Are there any legal issues to work with my partner from MOM?

2) Does PEP holder allowed to work that sort of pte ltd company?

3) Is that PEP holder will be a share holder of that company?

Shouldn't be, you are employed by a company in Singapore, you just need to tell MOM what the company is via the notification form on the MOM webpage, the issue with being employed may lay with your partner later when he more people are employed if there is an inbalance of locals to foreigners... SMS could help on this.

PEP holders can work for any companies in Singapore, whether working for a Sole Proprietorship of someone else or a limited company, you just need to inform the MOM
3) Is that PEP holder will be a share holder of that company?
Not sure about this, best person would probably be Strong Eagle to answer this, he has some direct experience in it.

I may be wrong, and I think you will run into problems. PEP is not supposed to be a vehicle for starting a new business. It really depends upon the salary you are to be paid, and whether the business is actually earning income. I wouldn't hold my breath. But do let us know how it goes.
