Surgery in Korea - Calf reduction (Partial re-sectioning)

Post by MidnightStar » Tue, 27 Dec 2011 12:38 am

I'm planning to go to Korea during late May/ early June 2012.
Anyone interested to go for surgery at OZ clinic with Dr. Park?
I'm doing calf reduction (Partial gastrocnemius muscle resection).

Drop me a pm if interested, perhaps we can travel and share hotel costs :)
TIA- :)

Anyway those interested can email dr. Park with your queries.
Or you can post your queries under the consultation section in the website. He is quite prompt in replying :)

So this is the email I sent him the last time I made an inquiry...
(For those who are interested)

First email:

Thank you for your interest in my clinic and showing me your pictures.

In the pictures, you seem to have hypertrophic Gastrocnemius muscle and you can be a good candidate for partial resection of Gastrocnemius muscle.

Considering your height and weight, your ideal circumference is 33 cm.

So, you need 2.5 cm loss in calf circumference which is remarkable change.

After surgery, your calf can look similar to the girl in other photo.

1. Do you mean the risk of recurrence ?

I've never seen any recurrence for over 12 years.

2. 15 days' staying is enough for this procedure.

3. You can continue running after 4 to 6 weeks without fear of muscle hypertrophy.

4. In calf reduction, shape is more important than calf circumference.

The usual decrease in calf circumference in your body status is about 3 cm.

5. It's realistic expectation.

6. The cost of your surgery is 6,300,000 KRW.

Korean government will impose 10 % tax on the cost of surgery from July this year.

If you pay by cash, I'll discount 4 %.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Regards,

Hyuncheol Park MD

OZ Cosmetic Clinic

------------

Second email

The decrease in calf circumference can vary according to your muscle bulkiness, calf structure, postoperative care, your body characteristics, etc.

There are too many variables to affect calf circumference.
But upon my experience, 2.5 cm loss in calf circumference will be the best for you.

In calf reduction surgery, the more decrease in calf circumference doesn't mean the better result.
In any surgery, overcorrection and undercorrection are not so good.

Success rate of this calf reduction surgery is 100 %.
That's the reason why I say this partial resection of Gastrocnemius muscle is the more effective and the most predictable calf reduction method.
To surgeons, predictability has the utmost importance.

If muscle is removed once, it can't be regenerated.
So, there is no recurrence in this surgery.
Calf circumference will vary a lot in your recovery.
If you do your postoperative care well, you can have better result and the circumference will be maintained.

Regards,

Hyuncheol Park MD
OZ Cosmetic Clinic

Oh yes, I also asked about the incision.. it will be made at the back of the knee the area where the crease is :)

So I guess its not too bad, just that the surgery is a little pricey.

Hi MidnightStar,

Finally i found someone here in Singapore who's also keen in this Calf Reduction surgery! :D

Im interested too but im very worried if anything would go wrong with the legs thereafter or during surgery or ???? I read the purse forum n it was very useful info.

Did you also enquire with Dr Jong from Taiwan? Understand he also does Calf Reduction n i believe his charges are a little bit cheaper although this is not the main factor in my decision as to who to go to - whether Dr Park or Dr Jong.

When are you thinking of doing it? Im also a bit concerned that one wud need to stay about 2 weeks in Korea for the surgery as im not sure if i could take so much time off from work.

Also im concerned abt the recovery time which may take say around 2-3 months?

do not go to dr park of ozclinic

hes unofficially known as the "butcher of korea" together with butcher of taiwan who is dr chuang

he ruined my friend's double eyelids and epicanthoplasty region by creating a caucasian-fake appearance even though she specifically requested not to have an unnatural result. he also caused ptosis in one of her eye

after she asked for revision, dr park rudely said she has depression and should see a psychiatrist. and that it was ok.

please stay clear of this guy.

Hi boii18

Thanks so much for sharing.

The only problem is for this Calf Reduction surgery, it seems that there are only a handful of surgeons who can handle this operation. In Singapore, i havent heard of any surgeons doing it. When i enquired about this with the local surgeons previously, they immediately advised against it or they proposed liposuction to remove the fats @ the calves. However, besides fats, its also the muscles that are bulky at the calves.

In Taiwan i understand Dr Jong can perform this surgery. And in Korea, Dr Park is one of those who has performed this operation many times. I read in the Purse Forum that those who have gone to him for this surgery do not regret n are happy that they went for the operation including patients from UK, USA, etc.

Do you think it cud be that Dr Park may not be that skilled in doing double eyelid surgeries n that maybe Calf Reduction operation is more of his forte??

Im contemplating whether to go to him or Dr Jong in Taiwan should i decide to proceed with the operation. And besides the surgeon, there are other factors that are hindering my decision with this operation.
