Re: Moving to Singapore List...
There's colgate toothpaste
pads and tampons, we got them.... we dun have the brand 'always', but u can try whisper with wings, its pretty good
there's Aveda products in the pharmacies as well
seriously, dun worry too much, u'll be able to get most items u need here.
if we dun have it, then its a good chance to try something new

Trix is right, you're worrying too much about the products. You can honestly find just about everything here (if not everything). Singapore is very cosmopolitan.
As for the DVD player, North America runs on a different voltage and your machine won't work without an adapter/converter. With the price of a good converter (one that is reliable), you may as well leave the DVD player at home and buy a new one here. Plus, some of the films here are in the PAL format where in the US they are not.
You can buy a new Panasonic or Toshiba DVD player here, that plays all formats and is switchable from 100-240 so you can bring it back home with you when you go, if you want.

I have been here for about 7 months - came from the US. You'll be best off buying an all-region DVD player here because you will likely get some region 1 (US) DVDs and some region 3 (SE Asia) DVDs. Like someone else mentioned, DVD players are pretty inexpensive here anyway and your current DVD player is likely only region 1 compatible.
As far as the brand names you are used to - you will find many of them here, but not all of them. But, don't worry, there's always a suitable substitute. And, if not, you can always have someone from the US send it to you if it is mailable.
All that being said, I know it's easy to get wrapped up in the small details when you are about to move to the other side of the world --- must be some sort of coping mechanism or something
Good luck with the move!
