Post by jopokwan » Sun, 18 Dec 2011 11:42 pm

Hi my husband just got an job offer in Singapore & we plan to move on next April. I have been searching the relocation companies these days, does anyone have a good one to recommend? Normally it takes how many weeks for the container to ship from door to door? ThankS! :)

We've never been let down by Allied Pickfords over the years. A good place to start at least.
Be careful what you wish for

We used a company in Scotland called Matt Purdie, they use partners in Singapore and for shipping, but they were all very good, so no complaints!

Good luck, and have a look around on the site as this has been asked MANY times

We used pickfords too, was organised for us by my partners company and I was very happy with the service, it took about 6 weeks for our sea shipment to arrive, they do have a flight option which arrives quicker, I think about 2 wks, we didn't have an apartment picked so didn't opt for the quicker delivery

If you are going for a long haul, yes FLC or LCL load thru shipping or freighting company is the way to go.
If not, travel light and most of the stuff you need , you can get it here. My POV is the little dot is hot and humid. It is either rain or shine or abit of both all through the year. You will never get 25 degrees and below temp. here. So you can throw or donate all your winter clothes to the charities in UK as it is aint worth it to bring it here coz you ain't gonna use it. Get all the electrical and furniture stuff here. You may find your furniture in the UK esp the bed may not fit into the Master Bedroom here. The cost of paying for the FCL or LCL may put to good use in SG.
If there is too many sentimental values items that you want to tag along then by all means FCL or LCL .
The only thing I can think of is if you are on the large frame size, some clothes are hard to get here
