CIS vs ISS

Post by VivianeL » Fri, 06 Jan 2012 8:37 pm

Hiya !
Don't know if you're still on the forum, and I guess that by now, you've found your answer... ?!?! Where did you end up sending your son ? What made you decide for either or... and hmmm are you happy with your choice, then ???
Thanks to let me know, I'm also in the midst of school search and I must say a bit concerned about the fact that ICS is so religion oriented... Any feed back for me ? I would appreciate :0)

Why is it a concern? They haven't been properly brainwashed by your church yet?

Because of my work, I know the insider of nearly 100 schools in Singapore. And I would say that ISS is one of the few (including lot of other private too) where I would like to see one of my kids.

Said this, not idea about prices or other idea. Just the learning environment, the kids behavior, the school activities, ...

Dear Asdracles ,

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for your input ! It is funny 'cause it's the feeling I've been getting in the past month of researches... but as it was "only" based on gut feeling and I must say the very personal reply I got from them when I sent out my first request, it's always hard to know from such a distance !... Thank you !
A very grateful mum :)

Hi Vivian

Which grade will your kid(s) be going to. My personal experience was the ISS primary campus has not much of outdoor / sport facilities. I have put my son in CIS (note - this is different from ICS). He's in JK. Goodluck to you.

Hi Kithu !
My girls are respectively in KG2 and G2.
We went to visit the school (ISS) and I must say I was quite disappointed with the facilities ! We went to OFS just before and I got a much better feeling ! They have so much to offer on so many different levels !
After reading about the "poor" mandarin level in OFS, I did go to visit SAIS but as they're moving campus in August, it's hard to picture how it's going to turn. And the virtual tour looks quite ... cold... it looks more like a business ground or university campus ! A bit too much for 5 and 8 years old !
... so I'm praying for a place at OFS in April for both girls. The eldest has a secure place in ISS just in case, and I guess I would home school the little one for the 2 months before next academic year is no space at OFS meanwhile...
Home schooling... hmmm an other topic
Good luck with your son ! Are you happy with your choice of school, then ?

We have just move in Sg. My son will start only on 30th Jan. We were there last week for the orientation program, i am quite happy with his teachers. Too early to comment on whether I like the school. I hope I will. Let us wait and see.

Am sure ur little ones will get in to OFS. I have heard that there are always places in OFS through out the year. Goodluck!

There are around 32-33 International Schools in Singapore. So this means the other 2/3 are schools for Singaporeans?

Perhaps you can offer us some specifics about what makes ISS better?
