Living near Jurong west

Post by sampat » Wed, 16 Nov 2011 6:46 pm

Hello. If we send our kids to Cis lakeside, jurong west, which are the good residential areas to rent a 4 bed house?
First two months we will be living in Orchard. Are we mad to do the journey to cis lakeside from there by taxi, daily, or would you suggest public transport?
Complete newcomer to singapore so haven't a clue!

There is not much out there in terms of houses, not walking distance to the school. Mostly HDBs and condos.

If your kids are older and go on the MRT themselves, you could live near any of the MRT stations and they can get there that way. Dover, Buona Vista are closed to some landed property neighbourhoods.

Or the school bus?

Some have moved out near the new CIS campus but I reckon most won't as there isn't much to choose from out there.

We stayed centrally at Orchard Scotts (temporary housing) for our first two months, and there were several kids from CIS who rode the bus every day. When we first moved, I took the kids by taxi for three weeks to our school, SAIS, and the taxis drove me mad. We were late most days, because there is a mad rush at 8 am for taxis. Sign them up for the bus, it is so much easier. The buses pick them up at the apartments, and then drop them off in the afternoon. The MRT may take a while.

Hi ,you can try as mentioned above Lakeshore, Summerdale or floravale condo, Personally I would prefer Floravale as its spacious, not cramped compared to Lakeshore. Many expats live here too,

Penthouses normally have 4 bedrooms. Unless you would like to try landed homes, there are in Westwood Avenue area or Jurong West Street 93. Westwood is not too far far Lakeside.

happy searching !
