Bacon sandwich

Post by andy113 » Sun, 06 Nov 2011 8:36 pm

Hi guys,

New to Singapore, I moved over from the UK not long ago.

Hoping someone can help. Where's the best place to go for a bacon sandwich? I'm in a hotel at the moment so can't cook! Wondering if there's any good places I could go for a UK-style breakfast?

..and yes, I know I should have something healthier, but it's a craving I need to satisfy every so often :)

Thanks!
Andy

Jones on Dempsey Hill do English breakfast though it isn't a bargain and can be hit and miss. It's certainly worth a try.

Google also brought up this, but I don't know if any of them are still open. Stick their names into the hungrygowhere site above to find out...

That said, if all you want is a full-on bacon sani your hotel kitchen might be the place to get to dish one up for you. There is no harm asking!

Those two words bring tears to my eyes. I would kill for good bacon and a good sandwich. But combining them, you might have too high of expectations.

Think laterally...some of the Aussie bars are open for breakfast/brunch and will satisfy that craving. I am thinking of Boomerang on Robinson Quay next to the Gallery Hotel for starters...

Apparently there's a great shop that sells bacon and egg sandwiches under Raffles MRT - I can't recall the name but will ask my buddy next time I see him.

Does anyone know where to buy unsmoked bacon in Singapore? All the stuff I've got so far is smoked, and it just doesn't cut the mustard.

Short and simple, I've not found a deent one since I've been here (not decent as you would expect one in the UK!)

However, if you can find someone kind enough to cook one up for you Carrefour in Suntec does (very expensive) Danish bacon that is pretty good (pre-packed and near the ice cream section, not the deli) and the fresh bread there is not bad.... You can even get HP sauce here if you require.

I get my maid to cook one every Saturday morning after a good friday night drink and to be fair, she does it every week now and is getting good.

So aside from me inviting you round to mine on a Saturday morning (you would not want to see me on a Saturday morning, nor my loud obnoxious kids) the best bet is to try and find a colleague/friend who you can pop round to theirs and fry some up!

Maybe I haven't looked hard enough.

Thanks for the replies guys, it seems cook it yourself is the best option by far! So much turkey bacon out there, you can't beat the real thing...!
