Garden Furniture

Post by neongrannies » Thu, 27 Oct 2011 2:28 pm

Hello

I've been trying to find a couple of chairs and a table for our balcony and find the prices crazily expensive.

Has anyone got any good tips on where to look?

Thanks

Laura

I assume you mean something of wood kind.
The lowest price for a brand new teak chair I found was in a range of $S60-70, for a dining table ~$S400. Unfortunately I did not manage to identify anything 2nd hand in satisfactory condition so this is what I eventually paid. Bough it from scanteak.
Ikea got some acacia wood furniture but it comes in bits and pieces and more than half of what is in their catalog is not available. Still I believe it was possible to find some basic, slightly undersized chairs for sub-40 price and not so nicely looking table for ~200. If you decide to go for metal and plastic there was slightly better choice over there.

Edited to add (as I assumed bigger space): if your balcony is small then try Ikea. A basic small acacia table (~50x50cm), pretty good looking is $25, with the said acacia chairs will add up to ~$S110.

Google Expat Auction.
Viewing tomorrow - sale Wednesday.
They have some chairs in the auction.

Had. I checked 2-3 weeks ago and it was more expensive than in the mentioned Scanteak.
