Where to stay when...

Post by kithu » Tue, 25 Oct 2011 4:14 am

Where to stay when I want to send my son to German European school? We will be moving soon to Sg. DH has his office at Suntec Tower. We will not be having a car. Pls suggest some place to look for apartment which is convinient for both of them (I do home office!)

The other choices of school are OFS and ISS. But haven't decided yet.

Thanks
Kithu

I believe it would be better if you look for an apartment in Singapore. Otherwise the commute might be too long.
Within Singapore, it doesn't really matter, since the place is small and well-connected.
Maybe you also want to check the school bus routes and stay near one of them.

There are many families from the German school that live in upper bukit timah, near either campus. Depending on your budget, you can find condos, old house, new houses, etc.

your number 1 priority is to look for a school for you kid, then somewhere to stay nearby. what you dont want to do is crazy commuting to the school and back.

dont worry about husband. he can commute :D.

If the other options are possible, ISS and OFS are much closer to Suntec. However, that would be probably the most expensive area in the city.

Even Singapore is well connected, I guess you still need a School Bus to the German School, so you must check the routes (I go to German School weekly, and the nearest public bus stop is 15 min walk, even from there it should be 45 min to Suntec).

So if you know the bus routes, maybe you can find a compromise....

Hey, thanks for the replies. I somehow prefer the GESS(We have lived in Germany for the last 6 yrs) - but the location is what is bothering me. Will have to see.
