Planning pregnancy and a move to Singapore

Post by Binyanas » Wed, 19 Oct 2011 9:39 am

Hi,
My husband "may" be moved to Singapore in the next 6 months. We are also planning baby #3 at the moment and have to think about the prospect of having the baby overseas. I am totally fresh on the "ins and outs" of birthing in Singapore and am hoping someone can help me out.

What are the things I need to think about?

I have had the last 2 babies at a "family birth centre" which is a midwife run, low intervention centre where the dr is only called if needed (and never has for me). I would really like the next baby to be born at a similar set up. Are there such things in Singapore? I dont want a dr and do not want to pay exorbitant fees to give birth (my babies have cost me a total of AU$500 to deliver in the public system in Australia and that was only the fees for testing).

What sort of aftercare is provided?

What insurances may I need as a non-resident?

Sorry there are so many questions.
Cheers

It's costly here. Doubtful you will find something similar here but other may know better that I, as mine were born here, but 22 & 28 years ago! :o
