Moving from UK to work at khoo teck puat hospital

I would like to get information on what the surrounding area is like.

What accommodation is available within easy commute of the hospital.

Roughly what price is accommodation?

This is a new hospital in Yishun new town (which has lots of HDB flats at S$1800-2500/month rent), walking distance to the Northern MRT line, so you could stay anywhere along that line. Rents go up towards the city centre.

Aha, a fellow medical Jock, my wife is one of those working at Tan Tock Seng!! What discipline are you in? May be worthy of a chat with her in regards tot he industry etc in Singapore as well.

Oh, and if you are indeed a Fifer, EVERYWHERE is expensive for housing, $1800 for a flat is about as cheap as property comes in Singapore too!

As an aside and also to give a POV, with the new Circle line open, if I'm still here when our current lease expires, this could turn out to be an attractive option.

Train commutes aren't as long as they are in Tokyo--and Tokyo's got probably the most expansive and most efficient train system in the world.

Technically it's not the Forth Rail bridge at all, but I know the one you mean.

Yes, maintenance costs are huge.

Hello - when you're over here get in touch. I'm from Kirkcaldy and working in TV development. Everything is slightly more expensive here but you're out of Scotland... so it's all worth it!

We live in Atrium Residences and 4 of us (2 couples sharing a 3 bedroom apartment with a spare room for friends and family) are paying $3400 a month - with pool, gym and everything else. A bargain - we think.

Might be wrong.

Anyhow - welcome to Singapore. It's freak lovely!

Lots of places quite close in Yishun.
I lived there for a few years and like it a lot, depends on what you want .
Rents are much cheaper.
I stayed in Euphony gardens and its very cheap compared with the City.

Coming out as a newly qualified nurse, looks like it will be around the 1st February now.

Would that be a 2 bed flat at that price, not sharing?
I am a single female so would like to share with another Nurse or go it alone.

I have contacted the hospital and hope they can assist.

Looking like late January, i've been looking for hotel/weekly accomodation to stay while i find permanent residence.

Any nurses looking for flatmates???

I'd check with the hospital for people looking for flat mates, also maybe the classified here and the likes of craigslist and gumtree.

Not yet. I have been advised to wait until I arrive, hence the reason for the request of temp accommodation.
