[RESOLVED] FDW WP refused: what are the next steps?

Post by sanjivvohra » Fri, 14 Oct 2011 7:11 pm

Our application for an Indonesian maid was rejected by the MoM (no reason given which I believe is the norm) :( . Is this normal and what are the next steps? We went through a maid agency

MOD NOTE: tagged as issue is now resolved

Ask the agency. the Agency knows if they did screw it up .. Like missed some documents or something was not verified ...

Or, if you haven't paid the agency, change the agency .. no kidding ..

I know that much ..

She could have been blacklisted as well. But the agency should know that also.

+1 :D

OP, is the agency name in the MOM's 'under surveillance' list ??? :)

That's a fair indicator of the agency, though not complete ..

Thanks guys. We are meeting with the agency today and will try to figure out the reason, whether it is:
a) Lack of documentation
b) problem with the maid
c) Problem with the agency

Could the fact that the maid has been in Singapore for >6 years have anything to do with the rejection?

If the agency claims so, don't dispute it .. but .. they should know that there is no such rule .. and .. for all the a, b and c, a honest agency would have not submitted, if any of the above was bad ..

Meeting them - is a futile exercise, says me ..

As I said, if you haven't paid them, look for another agency, who can properly advice you and assist you ..

Thanks ecureilx.
We met the agency guys and they informmed us that the application was rejected since the maid had not had her medical inspection done (she is transfering from another employer in Singapore). They will appeal after she gets the medical done on Monday.
Unfortunately we have already paid the agency (lessons learnt here I think!) so I guess we are stuck with them.

Upto to you to believe this .. Medical, is done, after approval .. and if she is a transfer maid, MOM will not reject it .. as her previous medical still holds .. unless she was caught pregnant and the agency is refusing to tell you the truth .. and oh, did they say why she is transferring ??

Many an employer go for transfer maids, as the above silly reasons don't hold water ..

Somebody is harping the wrong song .. I guess ..

I advice is .. ask the agency to pay you back and look for another agency .. somebody has lost their moral fiber I guess ..

Hmmm, good points ecurelix. Food for thought for next weeks engagement with the agency.

If I were you, I would cut the loss and walk away, than confront such agencies with low moral fiber ..

ask them to refund, and find another agency ..

And, don't bother fighting, because, the above type generally thrives in confrontations ..

Just to close on this, we demanded our money back and were asked to give them "one last chance" (dont know what that meant). We said OK and things moved like clockwork.....we got our new maid in 15 days flat.

Which just goes to show you how much services in this country will jerk you around if you let them. :-|
