Travel Recommendations

Post by nickh » Sun, 09 Oct 2011 6:30 pm

New to SE Asia and looking to travel. I have 10 days from school on Nov. 10 - 20. Can anyone recommend a good place to go for a week or so? Trying to keep it under $1000. I've already been to Bangkok and since I'm from Hawaii I'm not too interested in beaches. Looking at HK, Tokyo, Taipei, HCMC, etc. I only speak english. And if anyone wants to accompany me, you are more than welcome!

If you don't want beaches and a sunny kind of break, then get yourself up to HK or if you prefer more sightseeing then the mainland (Beijing) for a week could fit the bill. Plenty of stuff to do up there if you like culture, architecture, exotic gardens, temples etc. Just be aware that the weather is changing now and it will be winter in Nov so don't forget to pack the thermals!

Have a look on some of the travel deal sites on google and you'll find some bargains knocking around with flights and accommodation packages.

A chum has just come back from Burma and she says its amazing, the big tip is to get your Burmese visa from KL not Singapore for some reason it only takes a day there and weeks in Singapore.
