Sucrose (table sugar, cane sugar etc) is hydrolised in the stomach giving glucose and fructose. Fructose starts to be metabolized in the liver while glucose not (passes through the liver). Glucose to be metabolized (the desired way) needs insulin. Fructose level is not controlled by insulin.
It may be debatable whether eating (more) sucrose in a given age is good or bad but saying it has the same health effects as fructose is not correct. Besides, and actually the main point of using fructose as the replacement for sucrose is that you need it less for the desired sweetness level. We are overexposed to sucrose so the common sense suggests to avoid it (especially if there are cases of diabetes in someones family).

I was not criticising the path that you're on. More curious how you see it panning out.

Anyway, onwards and upwards eh! :)

I did not feel that you criticize :)

Parenting, raising a child is actually non stop making choices. Sometimes it will be educated choice, because you can learn some facts, sometimes you just need to follow your instinct/heart/guts/or how we are going to call it.

It is truism. We are doing it all the time, also when deciding about us, but with kids it is a bit harder, because you know, I can eat something from the unknown source, it will be me who will face the consequences (unless I breastfeed).

I am also fully aware that what is now considered as good, may not be relatively good. The full process of metabolizing fructose in the upper intestines is actually not known, not fully known, so maybe in couple of years I will read that prolonged exposure to fructose may cause XXX. I was given formula milk with a scoop of flour, water with glucose to drink, because my parents were convinced that it will be the best for me. I know their intentions, I have exactly the same while making decisions about my child's diet. I may be equally wrong...

I see it this way - as long as I have a choice, I will do my best to offer my kid healthier foods. Healthier in my opinion (supported by the things I read).
It includes also introducing healthy habits for the entire family, so he will have a good sample from his parents, not just words.
