Need GP Referral for Dermatologist?

Post by foxinabox » Wed, 28 Sep 2011 1:16 pm

Hi guys,

Hope you can help me out here. I'm looking to remove a few moles which have been growing rapidly since we arrived here in SG. I'd like to get them tested (biopsy) to be on the safe side.

In the US I always got a GP's referral in order to see my dermatologist. From what I read from past posts, it seems like this would not be necessary and that I can go directly to the dermatologist. Is this correct? Would I be better off going through the GP anyway since I would like to get the moles biopsied?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide! :)

Biopsy can be done in all Government and private hopsitals. There is no need for referral

I took the liberty to link you to Singapore General Hospital news. Depending what kind of biopsy procedure and location of moles, different hospitals provide better on one procedure compare to another

Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated!

If anyone has recommendations for doctors/hospitals for mole removals with biopsies based on past experience, feel free to share. I noticed that Newton Skin Centre came up in past threads.

Thanks!
