Exercise to grow taller

Post by joop » Thu, 25 Nov 2004 9:05 pm

If you are still in the puberty stage, you can try basketball/ netball games, but there is no evidence that it would make you taller though.

Sometimes it's in the genes..

Sigh....that's been the question mark since i was 15....haven't been growing any taller since then. had been standing at the current height (1.45m) for the past 12 years already.

imo if you're a girl 1.45cm isnt all that bad a height to be. all you really need to do is lose some weight [arnd 38-40 kg would be a good weight to be - NOT LOSE!] and platform shoes + miniskirts will look gorgeous on you.
dunno bout guys though.

i know that females who start swimming from young or swim frequently, tend to develop bigger chest and lung capacity. it is good for the heart and as an overall body exercise! not for asthma-patients, please!!

How does one walk with platforms???I see some women shuffling with great difficulty like they have their feet shackled together with some weights attached.

Definitely not graceful.

Stilettos and high heels are stil sexy though.

Stay away from platforms-fashion faux pas

Well not too sure if my idea is helpful but I do wonder why I'm so tall (1.69m). Most of the times when I take MRT I would have to stand as the seats are taken. While I'm standing with my heels on , I can feel as if I'm strectching my leg and this might have some effect on my height.

Hopefully this link answers your questions. It's from a previous thread titled "height trouble".

Taller? Not possible if one have passed puberty stage.

Have a friend who is a nurse of a surgeon. Do u know that the ONLY WAY to grow taller is to break your knee cap (bones) and later install some metal and pins? This is the only way. DO NOT be fool by some beauty salons or pills that claimed to make u taller.

My younger brother (who is now 22) grew taller by playing basketball aggressively during his puberty age (for those after the period, SORRY! UNLESS you have 2nd wave of puberty 8)). He even slimmed down due to the excessive exercise. But I supposed the tall genes in him has aided in accelerating his growing-taller scheme. He used to be fat and short (really chubby and full of fats kinda kid before puberty age).

By the way, my dad (who apparently has the tall genes) stands at the height of 168- 170cm; while my mom around 3 inch lesser to 5 feet  People always name-call her as "kiam sa cun" (hokkien). My height is around 165cm while my brother is now standing the tallest among 4 of us, which is 175cm perhaps? (Sorry, the exact measurement is not known, but definitely more than 170)

Won't consider my bro is very very tall, but at least seeing him standing at such acceptable height among guys is a consolation coz he has big-frame genes. So he better be tall in order not to be called "fatty"

I guess if you're short by nature, try to watch out the size of your body (meaning don't be too fat).. otherwise you'll seem shorter.

p/s: Hopefully no offence has been stirred in my post :)

Tall, But Fat? wat's the point?

hi, michelle here.

firstly, i should say, u have to look "balance"! its ok to b 150cm and 45kg! u will still look as shapy and sexy with the right choice of clothes.

however, for me, its a total opposite situation. i am 168cm, weighing 88kg. and i am only 18 if u wanna noe.

i am the lazy type, n nv like exercising. i do wanna try to get a personal training or go to gyms like AMORE, but, i have no financial ability. neither r my parents!

as a 18 yr old girl, sometimes i wonder whether any slimming centre will wan me to advertise for them, i return, i get free slimming sessions! ahha... small girl thinking.

i used to b 88kg in sec 1, once, i had a crush on this guy and i lost 8kg in a mth, jus by starving myself. i only take my dinner. however, after i realised he did not like me, i started eating n soon, my weight came back to 88kg... n till now, i am trying very hard to mantain it! hhaaa

mayb because i am a happy go lucky type, so i dun really bother bout the weight prob. however, this year especially, my friends around me r dressing up well jus for a shopping spree. n i feel so odd jus wearing tee shirt n jeans!

someone kinda help... thanks
but, most importantly, feel confident. of course for me, if i were slimmer, i will b more confident.

You know about ur own weaknesses. Maybe you should start working from there to achieve the ideal weight. Remember, even if u sign up for slimming centres but u don't have discipline to control what u put in ur mouth (during treatments or after u've slimmed down), all will be back to square one. So you should first work from within, correct ur mindset. If u're lazy to work out, then u should watch out what u eat. Start slowly and attain ur result in no time and keep it maintained for long period of time. I'm lazy to exercise as well, but I try to make myself eat healthily and indulge once in a while. More importantly, be persistent! You can do it if u want to help yourself =)
