dent on my ear helix ?

Post by iwanthp » Sun, 11 Sep 2011 9:48 pm

I just realised I have a dent on my ear helix. Although my parents told me I already had that a long time ago. Though i know i didnt have a dent during primary school. So is there anyway to make it round? Or is it permanent?

Your first step is knowing what the condition is actually called in medical terminology.

'ear helix' = cochlea?
'dent' = ?

I don't know what its called but its not the cochlea. Its on the outer part of the ear. Erm I guess its the opposite of the earlobe or something? Here's a pic from wiki:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix_(ear)

The most upper part of the outer ear. Where normal ppl have it in the shape of an inverted 'U' or something, whereas mine is a more jagged, imperfect curve. Sorry for my poor explanation XD

Ah I see!

That part of the ear is quite cartillagenous, but I expect a plastic surgeon could tidy it up.

But I'd have to ask, if you've come this far without even noticing it, is it really worth the bother?
