Availability of Prosumer Video and Lighting equipment

Post by kiyuri » Sat, 10 Sep 2011 9:44 am

Hello! I'm moving to Singapore next month and am wondering about the availability of prosumer/budget-pro video equipment and studio lighting.

Does anyone here have experience with buying this sort of gear in Singapore?

On 2 prior visits I checked out Sim Lim Square and Funan, but only found a few shops that had prosumer level equipment. At the time the two cameras I'm looking at were not on the market, so I'm wondering if they are now available in Singapore:

Cameras

Sony NEX-FS100 -- http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-broadc ... EXFS100UK/

Panasonic AG-AF100 -- http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/af100/index.html

Studio equipment and lighting

I also need to get some florescent video lights, softboxes, barndoors, stands, etc. But I had no luck finding this sort of equipment at all.

A largish fluid head video tripod -- Sachtler and Vinten are probably out due to budget, but something like a mid to upper-range Libec? I didn't see much in this range of tripods either.

Are these things available in Singapore?

Or should I buy now (in Japan) and ship it over?
(PAL/NTSC isn't a huge concern since almost all delivery will be progressive frame computer-based video)
