journalist's salary in Singapore

hi peeps!
am a newbie here and am on the lookout for a possible job in the field of Journalism in Singapore.
i was just wondering if you could give me a salary range as to how a journalist or a writer/researcher gets by the end of the month?
the possible employer is asking "expected salary"..so, how much is it, in US dollars please?

am a 25-year-old journalist with six years of background in journalism.
i've done sports features and human interest mostly. also into column writing.

Power of the pen doesn't pay too much here. I started on $2500 SGD entry level, but you have experience so probably can get more. But given there is basically just one english daily here, job openings may not be as widely available.
