Finding Decent Laptops

Quite recently I asked my local friend where to go for a decent laptop. He told me Sim Lim. So I went.

All I can say is that I managed to get out with my wits intact at least. Suffice to say, I don't want to encounter such eh, service again. Does anyone know of any other place in Singapore where they have proper, engaging people who really want me to understand the product instead of just trying to sell it?

@KarlPeriera:

If you read this now, you still have time to join the crowds in the Comex (IT show) over at Suntec Convention Center. You may get some freebies or discounts on your purchase. Or you can just take the chance to browse around and get the brochures so you can go through the features of the laptops at your own sweet time. (I'm the type who likes to do my research first and then wait for the next IT show to make my purchase.)

Just be warned... wear closed shoes (not sandals or flip flops). I once had a man back step on my big toe when there was a human pile-up on the top end of the escalator. :evil: I was trying to avoid them (most people here tend to stop when they step off the escalator and think where they want to go... multiply this by all those people in the IT show) but I can't. End result: I had difficulty walking for more than a week. :x

I missed Comex! It'd be too crowded for my taste anyway. Your experience at Comex leaves me wondering if I should go next year... or not!

And Funan! Ahhhh, I didn't think about that! It's always been Sim Lim this, Sim Lim that. Right, I'll go and give it a try later on. Thanks so much, guys!

I was at Comex too! Hahaha, and then I went to Funan later on to search for more iPod accessories... Must say that at least they're pretty much decent there! They even helped me pick out my iPod armband!

I finally got my laptop. The people at Funan really were helpful, and even aided me in picking my laptop.

Will be recommending it to my friend, goodness knows he should know this better than me.

Wow, I recall you having bought a laptop not too long ago.

I'd say that Sim Lim has the occasional deal, but frankly, keep your wits about you when you go there and bring a friend, especially if you have a local friend it can help.
Otherwise, I'd say you're better off going to Funan or catching a decent IT show like Comex, or one inside of Singapore Expo, Suntec, etc. Cheers
