My husband and I are moving to Singapore in a few months and are trying to find a flat to buy. We are struggling to find an agent who is really helpful from afar and none of the websites seem to have good photos or prices. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
We are looking for a 1-2 bed flat (or shophouse) with a minimum of 700 square feet. The most important thing for us is that is centrally located. It does not need to be a brand new build - we're coming from London, so old is fine! We are really looking for something that is good value, which I know must be hard to find!
We also need a temporary place to stay for the first 3-6 months as well, but are trying to keep this as inexpensive as possible.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

You better figure out how to gain residency first. As foreigners you will not be allowed to buy landed
property (shophouse). Again, you can buy a
condo unit (HDB you cannot buy) but you won't be able to live there permanently unless you have residency. Buying a condo won't give you or make you eligible for any type of residency visa.

Buying a property, what are the chances the tenant will move?

If you buy a property that's tenanted, what are the chances that the tenant will move? What's a fair compensation to the tenant?

It depends on the TA wording and remaining lease.
If TA does not address sale of property then you have to rely on the TA cancellation of lease...

Buying a condo in Singapore
Replies: 11
First post
Does it make more sense to buy a condo in Singapore rather than to pay rent to the landlords?

I already own - the issue is that this distorts the market unevenly. It swings to the market towards the new units and away from the resale units.
