Passport expiring but re-entry permit valid

Post by NRI » Wed, 31 Aug 2011 7:14 pm

Hi, we have been in India for last more than a year. My daughter's passport is expiring in Nov2011 whereas re-entry permit is valid till 2017.

We are presently in India and re-issuing passport (which was originally issued in Singapore) is tedious here.

Would our daughter be allowed to travel to Singapore before the passport expires? The facts to consider here are:

1) Passport was issued in Singapore
2) As on date passport validity is less than 6 months
3) PR (re-entry permit) is valid till 2017

Thanks !

Do you know that PR means "Permanent Resident"? You live out of country and keep PR? You abuse the PR and the system and make it harder for others to qualify.

NRI -she most probably will be stopped at indian iimigration.

SE, just for my information, how did you conclude that the OP was a "PR abuser?". He could be in India on an assigment (possibility right?)
